Prerequisites for the Program

Glassy sponge with sea feathers, brown sponges, deep water gorgonians and pink finger sponge. Morat Island, Bay Islands, Honduras. Depth 90 feet.Students need no prior SCUBA experience to attend Ocean Matters, but they must be in good physical health for SCUBA and supply evidence of such through submitting a physician signed health form. Students are also required to be competent swimmers.

Academically, we require students to have completed high school General Biology and be minimally 15 years of age at the start of the program. The program is rigorous academically and competitive. Priority is given to serious students who have done well in science and math coursework and possess a strong passion and desire to explore a career in marine sciences.
