"The program involved a lot
of group/team work, which taught me a lot about dealing with others, leadership,
being cooperative, adjusting to circumstances, listening to what others
have to say, and learning from them. . . In many ways, the marine biology
program helped me to learn about myself."

Prerequisites for the Program
Students
need no prior SCUBA experience to attend Ocean Matters, but they must
be in good physical health for SCUBA and supply evidence of such through
submitting a physician signed health form. Students are also required
to be competent swimmers.
Academically, we require students to have completed
high school General Biology and be minimally 15 years of age at the
start of the program. The program is rigorous academically and competitive.
Priority is given to serious students who have done well in science
and math coursework and possess a strong passion and desire to explore
a career in marine sciences.
